It’s easy to lose sight of God when you are caught up in the chaos of everyday life. Morning prayer is a time for your mind, body and spirit to be renewed and refreshed before you start your day. It can also provide an opportunity for quiet reflection on what needs to happen that day.

Before we dive deep, let’s define what morning prayer is

Morning prayer is a time to connect with God before you start your day. Morning prayers can be as elaborate or simple as the individual makes them, but generally they include praying Scripture and reflecting on what will happen that particular day.

A Morning Prayer everyday sets the tone for your entire day, even if all you do is spend two or three minutes in quiet reflection with God. It helps us to focus on what needs to happen that particular day and can provide an opportunity for quiet reflection on scriptures.

1. Morning Prayer of lowliness

O my Lord, at your birth you humbled yourself to be born in a stable; I come before you today seeking nothing but the lowliness that is yours. May I find humility within me and may this humility guide all that follows through my day.

To start your day with God, there are certain measures you need to put in place and it include:

1. Make a decision to start your day with God

To start your day with God, you need to make this decision because it is not something that will just happen on its own. It takes determination and perseverance to keep at it even when times get tough but if you are truly committed then no obstacle can stop you from giving your time to him. It’s even to your advantage to start your day with God because you can’t get anywhere without him and he will always be there for you when the going gets tough.

2. Sleep early the night before

Many of us have tried to start our day with God but we just can’t seem to do it because we haven’t slept early the night before. If you want a good start for your day, then sleep at least an hour or two earlier than usual so that when morning comes you will be fresh and ready to face the day.

Fix a time you will want to communicate with God in the early hours of the morning. Ensure that the time selected is not when your kids are awake as it will be difficult to have a quiet conversation with God.
