Are you looking for some practical ways to build an overflowing relationship with God? Are you looking for ways to deepen your relationship with him? If you fall within any of these categories, then I can assure you that you have chosen the right radar for an eminent Growth in God.

A lot of people want a serious and genuine relationship with God, but they aren’t ready to pay the price.

I will want to relate having an intimate relationship with God to what we are all familiar with; a Love relationship.

Remember when you asked your wife out, the joy and the eagerness you had each time you were to hang out on a date.

That longing of wanting to be with them, the pride of wanting to show them off, that cringing feeling you get in your tummy when you see them talking to the opposite gender, the price you pay just so you can get to them irrespective of how far apart you are from each other.

This is what intimacy with God entails.

You will need to put in your time and your mind. The intimacy of any kind doesn’t just happen, you have to be deliberate about it.

Any successful or great relationship you see around you is a result of two committed and deliberate people that are intentional about making the best out of their love life.

Have you ever wondered how Christians tag spending time with God as a ‘PRICE” but they don’t tag it a price when they spend time with their loved ones for hours?

Truth is Love isn’t without a price. God loves man so much that he paid a very costly price for his love for humanity. He gave us Jesus.

So, from this standpoint, I will love to say that there is always a price to pay to deepen your relationship with God.

Love doesn’t come without a price, and in addition to this, the basis of every relationship is love.

So if you are looking at building an overflowing relationship with God, first off, I will suggest that you check the genuineness of your love for him.

Now, don’t get the whole the idea of building an intimate relationship with God wrong, I am not saying it’s an easy thing to do, I am not saying there won’t be times where you will feel alone on the Journey of building intimacy with him.

Of course, there will be times when you will question God’s love for you, you will feel so lonely and you will begin to wonder the reasons why things aren’t working the way they should.

I have been there, there were times I had thought God had left me, I had unanswered questions, I had wailed and teared up, and a lot of wavering had made me question my faith.

One thing we have failed to understand is that our Journey with God is by faith. You don’t need to have those goosebumps or that heavy feeling of his presence for you to believe he is with you.

The same way you wouldn’t doubt that you have a nose is the same way you shouldn’t doubt his love for you.

The father’s love for us is everlasting, nothing can change it.

A lot of people want to build an intimate and overflowing relationship with God, but they don’t know how to, some have started already, but they aren’t sure if they are on the right track.

In this article, I will provide you with 10 practical ways to build an overflowing relationship with GOD.

10 Practical ways to build an overflowing relationship with God

How- To-Deepen-Your-Relationship-With-God

Below are some of the effective ways to strengthen your relationship with God.

1. You must be saved

If you are saved already, it means you are on the right track and you have passed the first prerequisite for building an overflowing relationship with God.

But if you are not saved yet, and you want a relationship with God, the first pathway to gaining access to the father is to accept Jesus as your Lord and savior.

Salvation is the real deal, it is encompassing. All that you will need for the Christian journey is embedded in salvation.

If you are unsaved yet, and you look forward to starting a relationship with God, kindly say these confession prayers with me.

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me your Son Jesus as a price for my sin, thank you Father because scripture says that his death on Calvary cleanses us from all our unrighteousness and I ask that the evidence of his death be made manifest in me. I forsake my sins, and I accept the life of Christ and as from today, I live the life of Christ. Thank you for answering my prayers, In Jesus’ name. Amen.

2. Acknowledge that God resides within you

Another of the practical ways to build an overflowing relationship with God is to acknowledge that he resides within you. The moment you gave your life to Christ, Your body became His tabernacle forever, He lives within you.

More often than not, Believers tend to look for a relationship with God outside of God, you create an imaginary picture of a big God somewhere whose Sons and Daughters tremble at his presence, we tend to feel that struggling, and crying to reach out to God is how to build a relationship with him.

Fact is he is been the one pursuing after you, How do I know this? Long before we were saved,

even before we were born God gave us Christ as a propitiation for our sins. A proof that he longs for you to enjoy his Eternal life (God’s very own life which man was alienated from after the fall).

One other factor that has prevented people from enjoying their relationship with God is the kind of relationship they had with their earthly Father.

Some folks, however, tend to compare their earthly father with God. some had a very traumatic experience while growing up, they learned so well how to hide pains, decisions, and things that matter from their earthly Father and they do the same with God.

God isn’t your earthly father, he is far better, very different, and distinct from your earthly father, His love for you can’t be quantified.

Do not let the traumatic experience you had while growing up, or what religious folks have projected to you as a terrible God that can’t be touched stand in the way of your relationship with God.

Christ called you to freedom, live that life of freedom. Be free with God, talk to him about everything, He will not crucify you, He will sincerely guard you into all truth.

3. Rely on the HolySpirit

Jesus, upon the completion of his earthly ministry, told his disciples that the comforter will come and that he will guard them into all truth.

For a better walk with God, we need to solely rely on the Holyspirit. Only he unveils to us the truth hidden in God’s word. He teaches us the things we seek to know, and the things we do not know.

He guards us into all truth. Halleluyah!

4. Follow through on instructions

Frankly speaking, instructions come along with building an intimate relationship with God. You are getting to know God, as well as his purpose for your life, as well as what he will want you to do for him per time.

However, we must understand that what he will want you to do for him per time and what you will want him to do for you per time is where the instructions will come from.

As a newbie, you might begin to receive the nudge in your spirit to read books on character, wealth, leadership, finance, and a lot more, When you receive the prompting in your spirit and it is persistent, yield to it.

Do not rebuke the Spirit.

Some religious folks might tell you that it isn’t the voice of God that is telling you to read books on leadership, finance, and the rest of them because they feel God is one-sided; He is only concerned about your spiritual life,

But, this isn’t true. God isn’t poor, doesn’t have a toxic character, is excellent, and he doesn’t want you either to misrepresent him anywhere you Go.

God is a father, creator, inventor, writer, designer, per excellence and he is concerned about every detail of your life. Follow through on his instructions.

5. Pray consistently

When I tell people that praying doesn’t have to follow a particular progression, they are surprised and the response I often get is ‘huh! I never knew that or Are you for real?”

Prayer is communing with God, it doesn’t have to be at a solemn place all of the time, or amid the Brethren.

There is a way you can develop your mind such that you are praying in tongues, and communicating with the father, and the next person sitting close to you can’t even hear you, But, there you are enjoying fellowship with the Godhead.

You can start communicating with God by asking him questions that you do not understand. The Good thing about God is that he is always ready to listen, and he wants you to listen as well.

So take your time, relax, and as you commune with him, do well to Listen, he is speaking.

6. Meditation

One of my go-to tools for an intimate conversation with God is meditation. It’s a mutual feeling I get, in as much as I am there within my closet void of distractions and joined in one spirit with God, the feeling is mutual.

I just love the serenity meditation brings, your imaginations are finetuned and his imaginations take over yours. You begin to see the way he sees, your understanding is enlightened.

Meditation switches us into the consciousness of God himself, You will need to do this daily for an overflowing relationship with God.

Constant meditation is another of the practical ways to build an overflowing relationship with God.

7. Bible study

Studying the word of God is another practical way to build an overflowing relationship with God. When I say study, I don’t mean skimming through passages of scripture as though you are reading a novel.

By studying, I mean that you are intentional about knowing the truth hidden in God’s word, and you go in pursuit of that truth.

You don’t have to rush the process of studying the Bible, it could be a verse per day. You read in context depending on the Holyspirit’s help for interpretation.

One helpful way to unveil the truth in God’s word is to carry the word in your heart and ruminate on it.

You will be surprised at the realities that will be birthed by this entire process.

8. Make time for God

No relationship isn’t time-dependent. Time is one of the prices we pay for commitment and one of the practical ways to build a long-lasting relationship with God is to create time, stick to it, and show up every day.

Your time can be thirty minutes or an hour or two daily depending on your schedule. It could be in the morning, noon, or at night.

The whole idea is so that you can communicate with him, especially at a time that would be distractions-free.

If you are married and have kids, it is better to fix a time when the kids will be at school, or asleep.

9. Play worship songs

Spiritual songs act as pathways to connecting with God. Times will come when you will find it difficult to pray, not because you are tired or angry.

That feeling will just be there, you won’t feel like praying. The flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41

What I do during this period is to play spiritual songs, and allow myself to flow with the Spirit of that song. The result of this is that most times, I find myself praying and lost in the euphoria of that song.

10. Make Godly friends

I will love to equate this point with fellowshipping with the brethren. Scriptures tell us in Hebrews 10:25 not to forsake the gathering of brethren.

Surround yourself with Godly folks, this helps to strengthen your relationship with God, in the sense that you share ideas from scriptures, they help raise your feeble hands when you are weak, the same way Aaron lifted Moses’ hands when he was weak.

Stay within your pack, walking alone is disastrous. Mingle with Godly people.

You can pray that God leads an Aaron, as well as a Jonathan across your way.

Finally, on practical ways to build an intimate relationship with God, we hope that the steps we

provided above had helped strengthen your relationship with God.

Remember that our Journey in God is based on faith.

God keep you, Amen.
