Some people do not go well with the idea of asking others to pray for them.
I personally do not know how to ask others to pray for me as well until few years ago that I was faced with the situation of life that looked as if the more I prayed, the less I hear God. I thought that I could handle the situation on my own.
I am quite an independent person, and this act of Independence tagged along with me to the place of prayer. I felt weird asking for prayers from people.
But then, I was faced with a tight fixed situation.
Was God speaking? Why couldn’t I hear him?
During these times, it was as though there was a long rope between God and I.
What do I do now? How do I handle this situation? I was getting frustrated already.
A few days down the line, while I was at choir practice with my gloomy face, a lady walked up to me saying she has had the leading to pray for me for days. She said she wants to be sure I am ok.
I was broken and comforted at the same time, knowing someone somewhere had the impression to pray for me, that definitely means that God cares.
A lot of people reading these have been in my shoes, some have gone past this, some are just arriving, some are still there.
But the question is, how well do you think you can handle your situation yourself? Would you like that someone prayed for you? There is this rest you have knowing someone is on their knees praying for you.
I have shared my own experience and I will also like to provide you with a few tips on how to ask someone to pray for you.
Let’s get started.
How to ask others to pray for you
Sharing your problems with people might be something you do not really feel comfortable with, but when you come to a congregation of people who show you genuine love, asking them to pray for you isn’t a bad idea.
Need tips on how to get started? Let’s go
You must understand that asking others to pray for you is not much of a deal. It’s the unity of brotherhood as sons, the Bible instructs that we love one another and asking someone to pray with you or for you is a sign that you trust the God in them.
You don’t tell everyone your problem because not everyone is matured enough to handle it. This is where discernment comes in. Letting God lead you as to whom you should relate your problems to.
I can assure you that God will either lead you to the person or he will move the person to you.
After you have been moved by God to relate your problems with someone, it is best to explain in details what the issue is, so that they will know how to pray with you.
Have spiritual friends
Having Godly friends makes it easier for you to ask others to pray for you, because this others falls within your clique of friends.
One unique thing about keeping Godly friends is that they can easily discern that something is wrong with you even before you know that.
Need Godly friends? Here is how to find them.
Talk to your pastor about it.
Going through life situations and you feel all alone with no one to talk to, your pastor could be the best fit in this kind of situation.
Apart from the fact that he is spiritual, he must have had a lot of experiences that can be of great assistance to you.
Asking for prayers or asking others to pray for us might be what will bring us liberty.
